Dr. Joseph Shrand merged his two passions of theater and child psychiatry to create Drug Story Theater. He is ‘Joe”, one of the original cast members of the PBS show ZOOM, and has integrated his experience in youth theater with knowledge of adolescent brain development to create DST.
Dr. Shrand is an Instructor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School, an Affiliate Child Psychiatrist on the medical staff of Boston Children’s Hospital, Chief Medical Officer at Riverside Community Care, and the creator of CASTLE (Clean and Sober Teens Living Empowered), a short term residential substance abuse program for adolescents challenged by substance use. He is triple Board Certified by the American Board of Adult, and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Neurology, and the American Board of Addiction Medicine.
Dr. Shrand is a nationally recognized expert in the treatment of addiction, especially amongst adolescents. He is uniquely qualified to answer any questions about substance abuse and addiction that the audience members or you may have today.
